Fridge Finder

Welcome to our Fridge Finder, whether you're replacing an existing fridge or starting from scratch on your own campervan build.

The finder is built so all you have to do is enter the model number of your existing fridge, or the dimensions of the opening, tell it whether you want the same type or fancy switching, and it does the matching for you.

It works just as well from scratch, building out a van, or got an awkward gap to fill? Measure the height, width and depth, pop the numbers in, and it'll show you the nearest fridges that fit, absorption or compressor, mains, gas or off-grid 12V.

Absorption Fridges - 12v, 240v & LPG

Absorption fridges (sometimes called three-way) run off 12V, mains or gas. Gas is the big draw: cold food for days with no hookup and no solar, as long as you have a bottle. They are silent, have no moving parts, and have been the caravan standard for decades. The downsides are slower cooling, a struggle in very hot weather, and a need to sit fairly level. They are also thirsty on 12V, which is really a keep-cold-while-driving setting rather than a way to run the fridge off your battery, since it only holds a temperature gas or mains has already reached rather than cooling from scratch.

Compressor Fridges - 12v & 24v

Compressor fridges work like the one in your kitchen. They run on 12V, and often mains too, cool faster, hold temperature better in the heat, and are happy on the move or sitting at a slight angle. They are far more efficient on battery, which makes them the natural choice if you have solar and a decent leisure battery and want to stay off grid without relying on gas. The only real downsides are the odd faint hum from the compressor, and no gas fallback if the battery runs flat.
