Built-in Safety & Easy Installation
With a built-in Battery Management System (BMS) and safety switch, with features to automatically disconnect the battery in case of over-charge, over-discharge, overheating and low temperatures to protect your battery and equipment. No additional components are needed are needed to setup, so installation couldn't be easier. The Victron SuperPack Battery connects easily in parallel configurations, perfect for increasing total amp-hours, but must not be connected in series.
Abuse Proof
Traditional lead-acid batteries can fail prematurely when used improperly, especially when left partially charged or frequently discharged without being fully charged. This can cause sulfation, a battery-killing issue that can drastically shorten its lifespan.
Lithium batteries however, are abuse-resistant. They're designed to handle irregular charging, operate efficiently in partial state of charge, and can be deeply discharged without long-term damage. This makes them ideal for off-grid setups, campervan energy systems, and remote application where full recharges aren't always possible. SuperPack batteries will cut-off the charge or discharge current when the maximum ratings are exceeded.
Efficient
Energy efficiency is crucial, especially in off-grid systems. The round-trip energy efficiency (discharge from 100% to 0% and back to 100% charged) of the average lead-acid battery is 80%. The round-trip energy efficiency of a Li-ion battery is 92%. The charge process of lead-acid batteries becomes particularly inefficient when the 80% state of change has been reached, resulting in efficiencies of 50% or even less in solar systems where several days of reserve energy are required (battery operating in 70% to 100% charged state). In contrast, Li-ion battery will still achieve 90% efficiency even under shallow discharge conditions.
